My most favorite day so far...turned into a a hellacious one!

Saturday day went a little something like this...it was perfection!

Then...Knox didn't have such a good evening after our fun filled afternoon. The Knox we know that never cries was "fussy" and for him, that is out of the ordinary. And he also hadn't eaten well in 24 hours. So Chuck took his temp and it was 100.5. After a call to wonderful Dr. Wilburn - we were off to Children's Hospital of Atlanta at 10:30pm. The ER was nasty - filled with all sorts of sick kids...throwing up...wearing masks...cuddled up in the PJ's against their parents with their blankies. Thankfully, Chuck pretty much told them that we needed to wait in a more private area since we had a 7 week old. Our wish was granted and after over hour of waiting in our private room (still wearing masks!) we saw the dr.

Of course Knox didn't have a fever anymore and we opted to not to any bloodwork and to just go home. The joys of being a first time parent. However, they say NEVER to risk it with a baby still this new! Knox has had a cold this week and we also took his temp after he had been wearing his footed PJ's - they said this might have contributed to the fever. Oh well - healthy baby...but BOY has he been a cranky one since last night. We are ALL out of whack over at our house :).

I sang at church today so I only got about 4.5 hours sleep and off I went to VL for 5 hours...this is what I've been doing all afternoon. Snuggling with my two babies. Usually when Chuck takes sneaky pictures it wakes me up - today however, I was passed out! GREAT napping including GREAT drooling. I'll admit it - you know you sleep good when you drool :)!

Dr. Bone came to visit!!

How lucky am I?? One of my best friends happened to be in town this weekend from Arkansas to take part of her medical exams...and we got to spend most of the day Friday together! Sarah is going into Pediatrics so it is very fun to talk to her about "all things Knox". I don't think she knows how much I am going to take advantage of her over the next...oh....20 or so years!
We enjoyed an amazing dinner with our husbands on Friday night - good times had by all...our stomachs definitely appreciated the love they got!!

Thanks for coming Sarah - it was so special to have you here and hold my little man!

Bristol...what a time!

Last week / weekend we made the trip up to Bristol with lil' man to spend some time with family and for Chuck to do his thing at the Bristol race (which I also got to attend!).

Knox was GREAT on the way up there. He woke up at 5:30am so I fed him and since our car was packed from the night before - we hoped in the car and off we went! We stopped once to feed him and made it there by his next feeding. Perfect timing! This trip was so great because Knox was able to meet his great grandparents, Granny & Papa! They got lots of good loving from Knox and enjoyed cuddling and holding him. It is so special to see great grandparents with your child.
Meg also drove in and surprised Chuck's parents so we could take them out to eat for their 35th wedding anniversary. We picked up GranDoc from work and Meg was hiding in the back of the car until we got to dinner...then she popped out! So fun. It is not often the five of us get to all be together - I wish I had gotten a picture from dinner. I have been slaking on the picture front lately! The next morning before Meg had to leave - she also got some snuggling time :)
Aunt Donna LOVED seeing Knox too!! Although it seems everytime she came around Knox would magically fall asleep!
Chuck went to the race for work and this was the first race I have been to since last October. The night race in Bristol is one of the hottest tickets in the sport because it is known forgood ole' racing. This race was different than anyone I have ever been to as Chuck was no longer on the "sales" side of the sport, but the sponsor / team side of things. We were able to spend some time at the AFLAC hauler and then join Carl and his wife and team by the car for pre-race festivities. I enjoyed being back at the races and seeing lots of people I used to work with. A HUGE THANKS to Grandma and GranDoc for watching lil' man so I could enjoy a night out.

a "MAJOR" visit

I have been looking forward to the MAJORS (bro - Trace, sis-in-law - Jeni, nephew - Jack, niece - Millie Kate) coming to visit since the day I had Knox! They traveled ALL DAY and finally got here Wednesday night in time for dinner and sadly, had to leave Saturday after lunch.

We had SOOOOO much fun and packed in lots of quality time while making lasting memories! I didn't take my usual 1opm - 12am nap because clearly I wanted to get as much hanging out time as I could! Because I could go on and on and on and on about all we did...I have decided to share my top ten pictures / moments from their time here!

1. Jeni running and jumping from the car to meet Knox...
2. Jack & Millie Kate lovin' on their little buddy!
3. Playing at Kangazoom - the jump house place!
3b. The guys doing a little work while we are there!
4. Hanging with all our our cousins...
5. Millie Kate having some sweet time with Chuck - she has a crush!
6. Finally being able to hold my own sweet baby in pictures with Jeni and the kids...
7. Playing with Millie Kate's hair - this time we gave her a trendy little braid!
8. Introducing the Major's to Barkers Hot Dogs - duh! (AND they got to meet Doty & Lydia too!)
9. Jeni & Trace having tender moments with the Knoxster
10. Just being with family...

1 month already!

A week ago tomorrow, my little man turned 1 month old! I just can't believe how fast it has flown by. Here were his stats when he was born:
Weight: 7 pounds 4 ounces
Length: 20 3/4"

And at his one month appointment:
Weight: 9 pounds 2 ounces
Length: 21 3/4"
He is in the 50% percentile for everything!

He has a strong legs and already seems to scoot little by little across the floor. He loves moving his head from side to side and loves bring pulled up by his arms to exercise his head. His favorite place to sleep is on my chest...we take lots of naps like this together. He also enjoys his swing and his rocker. His left arm is always up by his face and he has three distinct noises...I call them the "goat", terrradactyl", and the "dog growl / grunt" - they are adorable, but very annoying at night time as he talks in his sleep (which is why is officially in his crib starting tonight!!!). He has projectile pooped and vomited, but hopefully we are out of both of those nasty spurts (no pun intended!!).

Cookout, Hooch & Church...

A cookout, hooch & church...great way to describe a fantastic weekend!

What a fun few days we have had!!! Thursday night we hung out with some VL friends...the one picture I got from the evening?...the girls being "gangsta". Seriously, I have no clue when it comes to taking pics like this - help!
After a great date night (w/ Knox joining us of course) on Friday night, we needed to walk off some food...so off to the Chattahoochee River we went for some walking and swimming for Belle! We used to go to the river almost every weekend when we practically lived on the river, but its been a while. As you can see - Belle LOVES swimming in the hooch!
Today was truly a blessing. I have missed being going to church and worshiping our God. What a great Sunday to get back in the groove. The worship is unreal at VL and Pete's preaching is always so relevant and applicable. Hopefully I'll be singing with the band again soon. I miss those guys!!
Hope you had a great weekend too! Knox will be 1 month tomorrow!!! CRAZY how fast this month has flown by.

Ahhh...what a feeling!!!

What an amazing moment this morning - I must share with my amigas (as many of you may be able to celebrate this moment with me).

About two weeks ago I was feeling pretty good about myself. I mean - when you go from being 9 months preggers to 2 weeks after your baby is born...there is a BIG difference! So on that morning two weeks ago I decided to try on some of my old shorts / pants. CLEARLY they would fit right? When I looked in the mirror, I "thought" I looked so thin. Note to self and others - DON'T GO TRYING ON CLOTHES two weeks after a baby. It will only result in disappointment.

However, this morning I decided to go through all the tubs under our beds and organize / clean out some clothes. I decided to once again try on some pants / shorts. I decided to go with some jeans from college first. THEY FIT and fit pretty good...(note: I was a size or two bigger in college than I have been in 3 years!). So, I decided to take the plunge and try on my favorite jeans and my skinny jeans. Did they button? YES!!! Would I wear them out yet?? NO!! But, what an amazing feeling that they button.

Can you relate? Ahhh...it's a good feeling to know that my beloved clothes will fit again and one day soon I can actually wear them in public :)

Waffles & lots of firsts!

This week we have I've had homemade waffles every morning! It is the easiest recipe and you make it the first morning and the batter will save for the rest of the week. Try it out - it won't disappoint!
Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 heaping tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil or melted butter (i use melted butter!! - cause we live in the South and Paula Dean would use butter too!)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:

Combine dry ingredients in bowl and in a separate bowl, beat wet ingredients. Then, add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until moist. Then cook in a pre-heated waffle iron - YUMMY YUMMY!!! These are even good without butter and syrup! Let me know if you try them out!
What are the firsts this week? Well, since we are creeping up on Knox's 1 month birthday...we decided to try some new things...

The activity mat - Knox likes to spend some time after breakfast on it!
Bath time in the big tub - loves this too!
A bottle!!! Daddy enjoyed feeding little Knox!
Snuggle time with Belle - she put her hand up on his chair without our help! How stinkin' cute is that?
Play dates - Riordan is almost a month older than Knox...they will be good buddies (even though Riordan is a UGA fan, we won't hold it against him!)
